🐘 PostgreSQL and πŸ’Ž Rails Consulting

In January I announced on Twitter and more recently on LinkedIn, that I'm working as an independent consultant. This is my new full-time career focus. I'm helping teams that use PostgreSQL and Rails solve their technical challenges.

Since then, I've been hired by great clients like Podia and Clearscope for advice, recommendations, or to provide training to the full-time team. A few more clients have hired me for longer-term ongoing engagements, where I'm actively contributing changes to their database operations and application codebases.

If you'd like to discuss working together, please book a meeting on my Consulting page or contact me.

Print Pre-order!

An exciting book milestone happened recently, with the book becoming available for pre-order in print. I've set up a book page to add pre-order links at Amazon, B&N, and Target! The book page also has some very nice recommendations!

While it's still a couple of months away from shipping, a print form of the book will be exciting to see. If you can't wait for the print version, or want to save money or prefer ebooks, the ebook can be ordered now. Use discount code SinCityPostgreSQL to take 35% off the price.

Conferences

The 2024 conference season is in full swing. I'm lucky to be presenting at three conferences over a six week period this Spring.

  • The first one just happened. I've just returned from Sin City Ruby 2024 in Las Vegas, NV March 21-22. This was a great event.
  • PgDay Chicago 2024, April 26th, 2024 (1-day)
  • RailsConf 2024 May 7-9, 2024, Detroit, MI. I'll be presenting my first ever two-hour long workshop. Fortunately most of the content will come from the book, but I'll be working to slice it up into chunks, and hope to do a dry run prep event next month.

Wrapping Up

I hope 2024 is going well for you. Consulting is "up and down," but I feel like I'm starting to get a solid base of good client work that's both rewarding, and allowing me to meet my income goals.

If you're in Chicago on April 26th, or will be at PgDay Chicago, I'd love to connect with you there.

If you'll be at RailsConf this May in Detroit, MI, please reply and let me know, and I'd love to organize some time to meet.

Thanks for reading, and until next time!
