Issue #12 — June 2024

POSETTE (happening now!)

POSETTE 2024 is a free virtual conference from Microsoft, on topics related to PostgreSQL, June 11-13. I'm honored to be presenting on June 11, at 11 AM PDT (6PM UTC)!

If you're receiving this before then, please consider joining the recording and live Q&A session for SaaS on Rails on PostgreSQL!

I'd really appreciate seeing you there!

Presenting at RailsConf 2024

I presented a two-hour workshop at RailsConf, and it was fulfilling to present these topics and connect with so many nice people afterwards.

I went hard on podcast appearances this past Spring, promoting my conference presentations, book, and consulting offerings! Please have a listen and consider sharing episode links on your social media accounts. That really helps!

Book Ratings

New ratings and reviews on Goodreads for High Performance PostgreSQL for Rails!

  • 10 ratings with an average score of 4.80
  • A really generous review from Sean Szurko (thank you Sean!):
Andy presents so many useful Postgres concepts that it's hard to believe anything about Rails even fits in the book!

If you are a Rails engineer who always wanted to understand how to have a greater impact on your work through taking command of your database, this is the book for you!

The first review landed for the book on The Storygraph, also from Sean!

Wrapping Up

Spring conferences were fast and furious. I really appreciated having the opportunities to present, meet new people, and to continue working in these areas.

With that said, I'll be focusing more on consulting this summer, and that will be a nice change of pace.

Although this issue was several months after the preceding one, I have so many things to say, you can expect to see the next one very soon!

Next up, we’ll cover some exciting updates on the book, new creative endeavors, and of course, more PostgreSQL content!

Hope to see you online tomorrow for POSETTE.

By the way, we're close to 1000 subscribers for this newsletter, and it would be fun to get there. Please forward this email and share links to https://pgrailsbook.com/ if you're able to. Thank you very much.

Until next time!
